Тема урока: История образования в России. Профессионалитет / The history of education in Russia. Professionalitet.

Цель урока: познакомить обучающихся с историей образования в России, с достижениями России в области среднего профессионального образования в XXI веке.

Задачи:

— посредством английского языка развивать интерес к истории и современности России, ее роли и месте в мировом сообществе;

— формировать патриотические чувства и гордость за свою страну;

— способствовать развитию критического мышления, аналитических и коммуникативных навыков обучающихся;

— стимулировать творческую активность и самостоятельность обучающихся.

Did you like the excursion to VDNKH? What did you like most? Why do you think you have to know the history of your country? (to understand today’s life better; to avoid mistakes in the future; to realize yourself as a part of your country, etc.)

1. Match the time to the facts of education history in Russia

As you know, there are a lot of famous Russians who left an outstanding mark on the world’s history and culture. They are great scientists, writers, poets, travellers, explorers and educators. Do you remember their names? (Student’s answers)

2. Match the names of the great Russians to their occupations and to their portraits (write the number into the box)

3. Read the texts A-D and say what the common topic of all the texts is.

A. Anton Semyonovich Makarenko (1888–1939) was a Soviet educator, social worker and writer. His methods were highly appreciated by Maxim Gorky who believed that his amazingly successful educational experiment was of world-wide significance.

B. During the Soviet period, many reforms of public education were carried out in our country. The main achievements in this area were the compulsory secondary education and the opportunity for everyone to receive higher education. The Soviet education system was recognized as one of the best in the world in terms of the quality and volume of knowledge, skills and abilities acquired.

3. Article 43 of the Constitution of the Russian Federation proclaims the right of everyone to receive education, guarantees free pre-school and secondary education and the right to receive free higher education in state and municipal educational institutions.
4. By 2023, there are more than 3,500 colleges in Russia, with about 3.4 million students. At the same time, the popularity of secondary professional education in Russia is growing every year. According to the data of the Ministry of Education of Russia, if in the early 2000s colleges and technical schools were selected by only 10–12 % of 9 ^th grade graduates, then in 2023 there were already over 60 % of them.
